Lawton’s Iconic Garden Shop Makes Surprising Pivot—Pickleball Courts Coming Soon!

Lawton Pickleball Facility Transformation: VooDoo Hydro in Lawton is transforming from a gardening supply center into a Pickleball facility. Owner Greg Carrol said the switch includes clearing out current inventory and preparing the space for courts, aiming for a full transition by October 1, 2025.

Transition Plans and Inventory Clearance

“So, we’re going to switch from being a gardening center, which we always have been, to Pickleball,” Greg Carrol said. “So, part of that is to liquidate all the inventory you see behind us and another 10,000 square feet in the back. We have to move that out pretty fast so we can get Pickleball set up in here.”

VooDoo Hydro is selling its remaining stock and inviting community support. Carrol encouraged people to visit the store or search online for “VooDoo Lawton” to learn more.

Supporting Local Veterans

During the transition, VooDoo Hydro donated unused lights to VFW Post 5263. Carrol explained, “So, we acquired some lights about a year and a half ago. They don’t fit into our facility, but they were a package deal. And the VFW is in dire need of new LED backlit 2×4 LEDs. So, we made some arrangements with them, and we donated them.”

VFW Post 5263 Commander Ron Albert confirmed plans to install the donated lights, saying, “Well, we’re going to start, actually, this coming Saturday. I’m cooking breakfast and going to open up the VFW at 7:30 a.m.” He added, “So, if people wanted to bring some more scaffolding and ladders and stuff to help out, that’d be perfect, so we can get the job started.”

Albert thanked VooDoo Hydro for the donation, noting the benefit to the organization: “I just want to say thank you to VooDoo for doing this for us because it’s going to save our electric bill about 30% and his reaching out to us and making this happen, I really appreciate him.”

A Community Effort

From gardening supplies to Pickleball courts, VooDoo Hydro’s next chapter is becoming a community project. The transition highlights both the growth of Pickleball and the company’s commitment to supporting local organizations.
