Chandler Pickleball Complex Grand Opening: The city of Chandler officially opened its new $8.5 million outdoor pickleball complex on September 6, 2025. The facility, located at the southeast corner of Germann Road and Pioneer Parkway, features 18 outdoor courts with LED lighting, restrooms, practice areas, drinking fountains, and a dedicated parking lot.
Mayor Kevin Hartke led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, joking that the city scheduled milder weather for the event. He introduced John Sefton, Chandler’s community services director; Parks and Recreation Board member Sue McInturf; and 89-year-old Chandler resident and pickleball enthusiast Robert Andring. The mayor called Andring, a 30-year resident, a “well-preserved, well-pickled pickleball player.”
Community Input Shapes Facility
John Sefton and Chandler Council member Matt Orlando said the new complex responds to public demand for more pickleball courts. The facility’s design incorporated significant input from the community to meet players’ needs.
On the morning of the ribbon-cutting, new players and those seeking a skills refresher worked with pickleball instructors. The complex is open daily during park hours, 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with courts available for walk-ins unless reserved for city programming.
Impact on Chandler Sports
The new complex adds a major recreational option for residents of all ages. By providing modern facilities, Chandler aims to encourage physical activity, foster community engagement, and support the growing popularity of pickleball in the city.
