Gilman Playground Pickleball Court Hours Update: Seattle Parks and Recreation will change racquet court hours at Gilman Playground, Laurelhurst Playfield, and Mt. Baker Park starting September 15, 2025. Courts will be open 7 a.m.–10 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.–10 p.m. on weekends and city-observed holidays. A new open-play pickleball pilot will begin at Green Lake East on October 1.
New Court Hours and Enforcement
The changes follow noise studies by the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections, which found play at these sites exceeded city sound limits under Seattle Municipal Code Chapter 25.08. SPR will enforce the hours through timestamped visual evidence. Violations will trigger temporary locks for at least 30 days. Repeat violations could lead to permanent locks.
Green Lake Pickleball Pilot Program
The one-year open-play pickleball pilot at Green Lake East will provide scheduled times for players: Monday 8–10 a.m., Wednesday 1–3 p.m., Saturday 9–11 a.m., and Sunday 4–6 p.m. A paddle stacking system will rotate players, and ambassadors will be on site to help organize games.
Balancing Recreation and Community Needs
SPR stated that the changes aim to balance recreational opportunities with the needs of nearby residents. Additional information and guidelines are available at seattle.gov/parks/about-us/projects/racquet-sports.
