Revolin Pickleball Eco-Friendly Paddles: Revolin Pickleball in Holland, West Michigan, is celebrating its fifth anniversary by highlighting its locally made, eco-friendly pickleball paddles. The store, located on Douglas Avenue, has grown from a high school hobby into a business creating innovative paddles designed for both performance and sustainability.
From Hobby to Business
Hugh Davis, co-founder and CEO of Revolin Pickleball, said,
“This is where a lot of the magic happens.” The company started when Davis and his friends became obsessed with pickleball in high school. “I kept breaking paddles. The edges would come off. They might dent. They didn’t give me the power I was quite looking for. They looked a little chunky,” (Hugh Davis).
Davis began by fixing paddles in his garage and soon decided to build a better one. His first paddle was made during his freshman year at the University of Michigan.
“I had carbon fiber, and I had foam, and I had epoxies and all sorts of materials, and I layered them, and I built my first paddle, and it was horrible. It was like a 16-ounce paddle which is really heavy. Most paddles are eight ounces.”
West Michigan’s Pickleball Scene
Revolin Pickleball has grown alongside the sport’s popularity. Davis said,
“What’s really cool about West Michigan – it’s a pickle ball mecca, pickleball hub. Grand Rapids has Belknap Park. It has the largest tournament in the state,”
referring to the Beer City Open.
Eco-Friendly Innovation
The company focuses on eco-friendly materials.
“How do I make the best paddles for players and the best paddles for the planet?” (Hugh Davis asked).
Revolin uses hemp and flax fibers, which are plant-based and reduce joint vibrations. The newest paddle, the Torch, uses Lava Flex 2.0, a fiber made from volcanic rock that offers durability, elasticity, and extra power.
“These paddles have been pressed with high temperature and pressure right here in West Michigan. Most of these raw materials are coming from Michigan or the United States, as well. So, it is a truly made-in-the-USA paddle,” (Hugh Davis).
Anniversary Celebration
Revolin Pickleball offers a demo program so customers can try paddles before buying. The store will celebrate its five-year anniversary on Saturday, September 13, with cake, discounts, and a pickleball court for fun challenges like fastest serve.
