Homewood Athletic Complex Pickleball Courts: The Homewood City Council will vote later this month on a proposal to build new outdoor pickleball courts at the Homewood Athletic Complex. The proposed 2025–2026 city budget sets aside $475,000 for four courts, which would be located between the parking lot near the Mega Field and the existing tennis courts.
Planned Court Features
Plans for the courts include four regulation-size courts with permanent nets and fencing. The playing surfaces would be blue with red “kitchen” zones and white boundary lines. The design also includes benches with shade canopies, bleachers for spectators, and optional lighting, which can be added depending on costs.
Pickleball in Homewood
Homewood already hosts pickleball at the Homewood Community Center, where players can purchase $30 passes valid for three months. The Magic City Pickleball Club also operates in the area, offering several levels of membership. The new courts would provide an outdoor option for local pickleball players.
Next Steps
The Homewood City Council is scheduled to vote on the full proposed budget at their Sept. 29 meeting. If approved, the city will open a formal bidding process to select a contractor for construction of the courts.
