Oakbrook Park Pickleball Courts Reopening: The City of Vancouver will celebrate the reopening of Oakbrook Community Park on Saturday, September 20, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, pickleball demonstration, giveaways, and light refreshments. The free event will run from 10 a.m. to noon at 3103 N.E. 99th Avenue and will begin with remarks from Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle.
Major Upgrades Completed
The reopening marks the end of Phase 1 of the Oakbrook Community Park Master Plan, a $3 million investment shaped by public input since 2022. The upgrades include the city’s first dedicated pickleball courts, a wetlands-themed inclusive playground, a Portland Loo restroom, new sidewalks, ADA parking, a nature play area, and habitat-friendly landscaping.
This is the fourth inclusive playground built in Vancouver since 2023, and the first located in central Vancouver. City officials say the new location improves access for families across more neighborhoods.
Community Involvement in Planning
Park Developer Roman Gutierrez said the project reflects strong community involvement.

Future Plans Ahead
Additional upgrades are planned as funding becomes available. The final $1.8 million phase will include a basketball court, tennis court resurfacing, a playground splash pad, a fitness area, and a picnic shelter.
