The Upstate New York Pickleball Championship will take place from September 26 to September 28, 2025, at the Broadview Center at the University at Albany, New York. The event, presented by the Capital District YMCA, invites players of all ages and skill levels to compete in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles across t
hree days. Registration closes on September 22 at 11:55 p.m. EST, with a fee of $60 per player.
Tournament Overview
This tournament is designed to be open and inclusive, giving participants the chance to join more than one event throughout the weekend. Matches will be divided into skill-based and age-based categories, ensuring fair play for everyone. Players as young as 12 years old and as experienced as 80 and older will have opportunities to compete.
Schedule of Events
Competition begins on Friday with open divisions. These include singles for men and women by both age and skill, along with combined-age doubles for men and women.
On Saturday, age-specific men’s and women’s doubles will be played, with brackets split by both age group and skill level.
The tournament ends on Sunday with age-specific mixed doubles. Players can take part in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles depending on their category and skill.
Event Divisions
Friday’s singles are set for age groups 18–34, 35–49, 50–59, 60–69, 70–79, and 80+. Each group will have divisions for 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0+ skill levels. Women’s and men’s doubles will also be played on Friday, with skill levels combined and brackets divided into ages 12–49, 50+, 60+, and 70+.
Saturday will feature men’s and women’s doubles with age-specific divisions. Categories include 18–34, 35–49, 50–59, 60–64, 65–69, and 70+, with skill levels ranging from 2.5 to 4.5.
Sunday is reserved for mixed doubles. Age groups will be the same as Saturday’s format, with skill levels also running from 2.5 to 4.5.
Example Participation
For example, a 50-year-old woman could join singles in her skill group on Friday, play in the women’s doubles 50+ combined-age bracket that same day, return Saturday for her skill-specific women’s doubles match, and close her weekend on Sunday with mixed doubles in the 50+ age division.
Refund Policy
This championship is being run as a fundraiser. For that reason, refunds will not be given after registration.
