Game On: Lewis Park Unveils New Pickleball Courts, Launching a Recreation Revolution

Lewis Park Pickleball Courts Opening: The Lewis County Park Board officially opened its new pickleball courts Monday afternoon with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Lewis County Park. The event drew local residents, Lewis County Commissioners, and other dignitaries to celebrate the expansion of recreational opportunities.

Community and Leadership Support

Lewis County Commission President Bobby Stewart highlighted the importance of adding pickleball courts.

“It’s the largest growing sport in America and I think we would have done a disservice to our community and the people here if we hadn’t have been able to make efforts to bring something like this to our park and to our citizens,” (Bobby Stewart).

Park Expansion and Construction

Contractors from Greenspan are also building new attractions, including a putt-putt golf course, ropes course, and zipline. Stewart noted the improvements were made on previously vacant property, combining new activities with green space.

Work is ongoing on the park’s water wheel and railroad feature. Stewart said the miniature golf course and ropes course are expected to be finished by early October.

Park as a Community Hub

Commissioners praised the park’s growth, emphasizing its role as a central gathering place.

“We want to make this a destination, and this is just one more step in our process. We’ve done it in a four-step program where we’ve added the splash pad, we’ve added this, and then we’re doing the miniature golf course and ziplining.

And I think by doing all these activities and bringing everything as a central hub to this park gives everyone different activities and multiple variants to be able to participate in stuff.”(Bobby Stewart)

Future Impact

The new pickleball courts and ongoing projects are expected to attract more outdoor enthusiasts, increase tourism, and make Lewis County Park a year-round destination for recreation.
