Ocoee Greenlights Massive Indoor Pickleball Complex With Entertainment Hub—Here’s What’s Coming

Ocoee Pickleball Complex Approval: The City of Ocoee has approved a new pickleball complex, more than a year after the project was first proposed. During Tuesday night’s city commission meeting, officials gave the green light to the preliminary site plan for the facility, which will be built by Vasant Sports LLC.

Revised Plan Gains Support

The project was first introduced in April 2024. At that time, the plan included 44 courts, half of them outdoors. After hearing feedback from both residents and city leaders, the developers changed the design. The final plan now includes 25 indoor tournament-style courts and one outdoor court for championship play, which will include bleacher seating for spectators.

Residents welcomed the changes. Ocoee resident Debbie Gulley said,

“I think it’s a great idea, it sounds like a beautiful idea that they’ve come up with, and it sounds like they took the residents into consideration big-time.”

Another resident, Jill Ogletree, added,

“Air conditioned, which makes it even nicer for the players, but I think the fact that the developers did keep in mind the sound and they’re respectful of those around them.”

More Than Just Pickleball

Developers said the project will attract both players and visitors. Sravan Tummala of Vasant Sports LLC said,

“It’s going to bring in a lot of money and a lot of players, top pickleball players to play pickleball here in the city.”

The facility will also include restaurants, bars, and entertainment spaces to draw non-players. Todd Lucas of Lucas Development, who is working on the design, said,

“If you don’t play, it will appeal to you because there’s going to be a couple of great restaurants, a couple of bars, great entertainment.”

Location

The six-acre site is located on the west side of Jacob Nathan Boulevard, near Matthew Paris Boulevard, just off West Colonial Drive.

Future Impact

The facility is expected to become a major attraction for Ocoee. It will provide a large space for tournaments, bring in top-level players, and boost the city’s economy with new visitors and entertainment options.

News in Brief: Ocoee Pickleball Complex Approval
