Demuth Park Pickleball Courts Expansion: The City of Palm Springs will temporarily close the Demuth Park Pickleball Courts next week to begin a major expansion project, officials announced today. The work will start Monday and is expected to last about eight months, with the upgraded courts reopening in spring 2026.
Expansion Plans
The Parks and Recreation Department will upgrade the facility at 4365 Mesquite Avenue. The project will add 22 new courts, one tournament court, better lighting, new sidewalks, shade structures, and freshly planted trees. Officials described the plan as turning the site into a “premier pickleball destination.”
Temporary Courts Available
To make sure players still have a place to play, the city partnered with College of the Desert. Together, they created 12 temporary courts near the college’s satellite campus on South Hermosa Drive, close to East Baristo Road.
The temporary courts opened on Tuesday and will remain available until construction at Demuth Park is complete.
Community Impact
The project is designed to meet the rising demand for pickleball in Palm Springs. By spring 2026, players will have access to a much larger, modern space for both casual games and tournament-level play. The temporary courts will keep the sport active in the city while construction is underway.
