How Pickleball Is Powering Naples’ Economic Boom: Chamber Event Spotlights Surprising Local Impact

The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce will feature Robert “Bob” Strommen, founder of Naples JBB United, at Wake Up Naples on Wednesday, September 24, at 7:30 a.m. at the Hilton Naples, 5111 Tamiami Trail N. Strommen will discuss how professional pickleball is boosting community engagement and the local economy.

Naples JBB United and Pickleball Growth

Robert “Bob” Strommen founded Naples JBB United, a professional pickleball team based in Naples and a founding team of the National Pickleball League. Previously, Strommen served as managing partner of Naples Pickleball Center and currently sits on the National Pickleball League board.

The team’s name, JBB, honors the sport’s founders Joel Pritchard, Barney McCallum, and Bill Bell, who established pickleball in 1965. Beyond competition, Naples JBB United promotes healthy lifestyles, social connections, and community engagement, especially for adults over age 50.

Chamber Perspective

“Southwest Florida’s professional sports presence continues to grow, and with it comes incredible opportunities for our local economy,” said Kristina Park, president and CEO of the Greater Naples Chamber. “This panel brings together industry leaders who are shaping the future of sports in our region, and we’re proud to facilitate these important conversations for our members and community.”

Registration

Chamber member tickets cost $50, while nonmembers pay $60. Tickets purchased at the event are $60. Wake Up Naples offers attendees a chance to learn about the business impact of pickleball and engage with local leaders shaping the sport in the community.
