Barrington Pickleball Tournament Ignites Taree as Local Club Scores Big Wins and Sets Ambitious Goals

The Barrington Regional Pickleball Tournament brought excitement to Wrigley Park in Taree on September 13-14. After being postponed from May due to bad weather, 172 players from across the region competed in high-energy matches that highlighted skill, determination, and sportsmanship.

Tournament Highlights

Players from local clubs and interstate teams battled on the courts in matches that kept spectators engaged. The Hallidays Point Pickleball Club, which organised the event, received praise for its smooth execution. Club president Sheila Capperold said, “It went really well. It was really well organised, the weather was on our side.”

Club Achievements

Hallidays Point Pickleball Club not only hosted but also excelled in competition. The club won 10 gold, 11 silver, and seven bronze medals, showing the strength and growth of its players. Sheila Capperold remarked, “It’s amazing how much the players have improved in just one year.”

Looking Ahead

The club plans to host the tournament again next year and aims to compete in the high school division in March 2026. Sheila Capperold added, “We will also be looking at options for indoor play,” as the club prepares for future events and potential weather challenges.

The tournament showcased the growing popularity of pickleball in Taree and highlighted the Hallidays Point Pickleball Club as a regional leader. Future events are expected to draw more players and spectators, continuing the sport’s momentum in the area.
