Battle of the Paddles Pickleball Fundraiser: The third annual Battle of the Paddles pickleball tournament raised more than $7,500 for Bacon Street Youth and Family Services on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Williamsburg, Virginia. The funds will support mental health and substance use treatment and prevention programs for youth and families.
Gloucester and Williamsburg Clubs Compete
The Gloucester Pickleball Club (GPC) and Williamsburg Pickleball Club (WPC) each entered 16 mixed doubles teams. Players of different ages and skill levels competed for the Team Champion trophy. After two consecutive wins by the Gloucester Pickleball Club, the Williamsburg Pickleball Club claimed the title this year with a score of 28 to 20.
Event Activities and Atmosphere
The tournament was organized by Carlos Morales, co-founder of CAM OHANA Pickleball. Food vendor Cool Concessions served refreshments, and Elevate Pickleball offered demo paddles and gear for purchase. FM 93.5 The Burg provided music, creating a lively and festive environment for players and spectators.
Supporting Youth Services
Carlos Morales presented a check for $1,050 to Mike Lewis, a board member of Bacon Street Youth and Family Services. This donation, along with other contributions from the tournament, will help fund programs assisting youth and families facing mental health and substance use challenges.
