Innovative Team Format
The event follows the MLPlay™ format, where teams of four players, made up of two women and two men, compete against each other. Each match includes four games to 21 points: one women’s doubles, one men’s doubles, and two mixed doubles.
If teams tie 2-2, a Dreambreaker™ will decide the winner. In a Dreambreaker™, one player from each team takes turns playing singles. Players rotate every four rallies until one side reaches 21 points, winning by two.
DUPR Divisions and Rules
The tournament will include several DUPR divisions based on combined team ratings. These range from DUPR 20 (aggregate rating under 20.99) down to DUPR 12 (aggregate rating under 12.30). Each division also has a maximum individual rating cap. For example, in DUPR 18, no player can exceed a 5.10 rating.
Once registered, teams keep their locked ratings. Even if a player’s DUPR changes later, it will not affect the team’s division placement. A DUPR account is required to register. Players without ratings can still enter, but their skill level will be checked by the tournament director.
Registration Options and Substitutes
The cost is $70 per player, and teams must register and pay together. Single players can sign up individually by noting their team name and division, such as “Mad Drops – 18.” If a single registrant does not already have a team, the tournament director will try to place them on one. If no placement is available, a refund will be issued.
Teams that need a substitute can make edits online or submit details to the organizer. However, the substitute’s rating must not push the team’s combined score over the division limit.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made by the Monday before the event to qualify for a refund. The refund will include the registration fee minus a $5 technology charge and a 3% processing fee. Players who sign up as individuals but are not assigned to a team will receive their refunds within 3-5 business days after the event ends.
