The 3rd Annual Paddle for HUGS Pickleball Tournament will take place on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Pearl City District Park in Hawai‘i. The charity event will raise funds for HUGS (Help, Understanding & Group Support), a nonprofit that supports families caring for children with life-threatening illnesses. Registration costs $70 per player, and all proceeds will benefit HUGS programs.
Event Details
Presented by Justine Stamen Arrillaga and John Arrillaga, the tournament will feature a round robin format with two skill divisions. Beginner games will be played in the morning, and intermediate matches will follow in the afternoon. Registration is open now and closes on October 26, 2025.
Fun and Special Matches
Professional pickleball instructor and event organizer Keven Wong said he is looking forward to another successful tournament.
“The support from the pickleball community and our generous sponsors continues to make this tournament very successful. It’s a blessing to be able to help these families through this event,” (Keven Wong).
During the HUGS halftime show, Keven Wong will play an exhibition match and take part in a crowd-favorite challenge match. Three lucky winners will face him using surprise objects as paddles, adding excitement to the day’s activities.
About HUGS
HUGS has served Hawai‘i families since 1982, offering emotional, financial, and practical help to parents, siblings, and children. The group provides airfare for off-island medical treatments and hosts family events to give caregivers much-needed breaks.
Impact and Goals
Last year’s Paddle for HUGS tournament raised more than $20,000 for the nonprofit. Organizers hope to exceed that amount this year, ensuring more families receive vital support during difficult times.
