Mid-Atlantic Amateur Open Invites All Skill Levels to Battle for Cash Prizes and Exclusive PicklePerks in Delaware

Mid-Atlantic Amateur Open Pickleball Tournament: The Amateur Pickleball Association will host the Mid-Atlantic Amateur Open at The Picklr Newark in Newark, Delaware, from September 27 to September 28, 2025. Registration is open until September 24 at 8:00 a.m. EST, with a cost of $75. Players of all skill levels from 2.5 to 5.0 can compete for cash prizes and PicklePerks rewards.

Tournament Details

The Mid-Atlantic Amateur Open is part of the Amateur Pickleball Association’s nationwide tour of nearly 150 tournaments planned for 2025. This program is the only one in the country to offer PicklePerks, which allow players to earn money from every registration and event win. These credits can be used toward future tournaments or apparel.

Events are organized by skill level first and age division second, depending on the number of players. Participants will compete in a round-robin format followed by brackets, with most players playing 7 to 9 games during the weekend. There is a six-game guarantee for all doubles matches, which will be single games to 11 points, win by two. Medal matches will be best two out of three sets.

Registration and Schedule

Early bird registration rates include $75 for the first event, $55 for the second, and $35 for a third event. Doubles matches are scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, mixed doubles will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, and singles will take place in the afternoon on either day.

Division Rules and Player Guidelines

The Amateur Pickleball Association requires players to register in their qualifying divisions based on their DUPR ratings. Players with at least 25 games posted to DUPR and a reliability rating of 60 percent or higher must play at their posted DUPR level. These rules prevent participants from playing below their true skill level.

Refund and Credit Policy

All registrations are final once payment is processed, and no refunds will be issued. Players who withdraw at least two weeks before the event can receive a full credit for a future tournament. Outdoor events affected by weather will not be moved indoors. If no matches are played due to weather, a 50 percent credit will be provided. Once matches begin, no credit will be offered.

Players registering without a partner will receive a credit if a partner cannot be found before the tournament. Late registrations submitted after the Tuesday deadline before the event will also receive a credit if the player cannot be added to the schedule. Players changing partners within two weeks of the event will receive a credit, minus a $15 administrative fee, if the new player registers and pays.

Cash Prize Opportunities

The tournament will feature an OPEN Doubles Cash Prize Division, where players of any age or skill level can compete for cash prizes. If the division sells out, payouts will be $1,000 for gold, $600 for silver, and $400 for bronze. Gold winners will receive 50 percent of the total prize pool, silver 30 percent, and bronze 20 percent.
