Steamboat Tennis Center Scores $200K Grant and National Honors—Major Upgrades Ahead

The Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Center in Colorado has received a $200,000 Tennis Venue Services Funding grant from the United States Tennis Association (USTA). According to a news release from the center, the money will support ongoing renovations and improve the facility’s indoor tennis courts.

Funding to Upgrade Facilities

The grant will help the center’s Courting Love campaign pay for a new exterior membrane, insulation, and lighting. It will also enhance the six indoor tennis courts, giving players a better and more comfortable experience. The funding provides a major boost to the center’s long-term renovation plans.

National Recognition

The grant came just one week after the center was honored as one of 45 winners of the USTA’s annual Outstanding Facility Awards program. This award recognizes tennis centers across the country for excellence in construction and renovation.

“The award means that we are doing an exemplary job of growing the sport of tennis to inspire healthier people and elevate our Steamboat community,”

said Meg Tully, the Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Center’s executive director, after the center received the Outstanding Facility Award.

Community Support and Future Plans

The center’s improvements are backed by local fundraising and strong community involvement. While Phase 1 of the renovation is underway, Phase 2 will focus on repainting the indoor courts, upgrading bathrooms, improving the welcome center, and possibly replacing the HVAC system.

Significance of the Grant

The USTA funding and national recognition highlight the center’s importance in promoting tennis and pickleball in Steamboat Springs. The upgrades will help the facility attract more players, host larger events, and continue to grow as a key part of the community’s sports and recreation scene.
