Baseline Pickleball Dining Lakeland Launch: Baseline, a new pickleball and dining concept, is coming to Lakeland’s East Main District. The project will transform a warehouse on Rose Street into a recreation and dining hub, featuring four indoor and at least four outdoor pickleball courts, a kitchen, bar, and dining areas. Construction will begin after Pegasus Medical Storage vacates early next year.
Pickleball Meets Dining
At Baseline, guests can play pickleball while enjoying meals or drinks. Groups will be able to rent courts and lounge spaces, similar to renting lanes at a bowling alley, allowing players and diners to socialize together without waiting for open courts.
Experienced Team Behind the Project
The development is led by Jon Bucklew of The Joinery, restaurateur Jason Ellis (Cob & Pen, Good Thyme, Rec Room), and Lone Palm Golf Club pickleball professional James Stephens. The trio was inspired by their love for the sport and the opportunity to expand entertainment options in Lakeland.
Design and Inspiration
Bucklew drew inspiration from the Rally pickleball club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Baseline’s design will focus on both the gameplay experience and comfort for those visiting for food and entertainment. The facility is expected to open in early 2027.
Boosting the East Main District
Baseline will serve as an anchor for the East Main District, also known as “LoMa.” Developers plan additional features such as a maker’s village and aesthetic improvements to give the area a unique identity.
