St. Albans Unveils Bold Pickleball Court Makeover at Ordinance Park—More Upgrades Ahead?

Ordinance Park Pickleball Court Renovation: St. Albans is set to get new pickleball courts at Ordinance Park. The old tennis courts will be resurfaced to include one tennis court and two pickleball courts. The project, which starts in the coming weeks, aims to provide more recreational options for the city’s residents.

Court Renovation Plans

The existing courts will first be cleaned, and any cracks in the concrete will be filled. After resurfacing, crews will paint the new layout.

“The courts, the pickleball courts are going to be tricolor. That means the kitchen area is different from the back playing area,” (St. Albans Mayor Scott James).

Mayor Scott James added that this is only the first step. He hopes to add more courts in the future, including possibly indoor courts for daytime use.

Community Excitement

Kevin Pennington, the parks superintendent, said,

“Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. Adding this courts and keeping one tennis court is a great addition to our city! I’ve had a lot of calls and messages from our citizens, and they all are excited about this addition to our Parks.”

Mayor Scott James said the city wants to provide activities residents enjoy and can easily use.

Looking Ahead

The new pickleball courts mark the start of expanded recreational facilities in St. Albans. They offer a growing sport for residents while preserving tennis. The city plans to monitor usage and consider more indoor and outdoor pickleball courts if the demand continues.
