Midland College Unveils 12 New Pickleball Courts, Igniting Community Excitement and Tournament Play

Midland College Pickleball Courts Upgrade: Midland College has opened its renovated tennis courts to the public, now featuring 12 new pickleball courts. The upgrade is designed to meet growing demand for the sport, which the Sports and Fitness Industry Association reports as the fastest-growing in the United States for the fourth year in a row.

Project and Community Efforts

The Midland College Tennis Association led the renovation project to keep up with the rising popularity of pickleball. Board member Karan Eaves said,

“We rushed to get these courts done so that they would be ready for the Best in the West Pickleball Tournament.”

The first tournament drew more than 60 players, showing strong community interest in the new courts.

Future Plans

The Midland College Tennis Association plans further improvements in 2026. These include remodeling the ProShop and installing lights around the new pickleball courts to allow evening play and extend usability.

The new courts provide both students and the public with modern facilities for a growing sport. This expansion reflects the college’s commitment to promoting fitness, community engagement, and supporting competitive and recreational pickleball players.
