National Pickleball Star Lucia DiGiacomo Returns Home to Transform Hot Springs Into Arkansas’ Pickleball Powerhouse

Lucia DiGiacomo Pickleball Leadership: Hot Springs Health & Fitness has named local athlete Lucia DiGiacomo as its new director of pickleball. DiGiacomo, a Hot Springs native and former youth tennis player, brings four years of professional pickleball experience and national-level expertise to the club, aiming to grow the sport for all ages and skill levels.

National Experience and Leadership

DiGiacomo has worked in professional pickleball, served as general manager of Vulcan Pickleball, chaired the Pickleball Equipment Manufacturers Association, and collaborated with both the Professional Pickleball Association and Major League Pickleball tours.

“Hot Springs Health & Fitness has laid the groundwork for a thriving program, and I look forward to helping players of all ages and skill levels find both challenge and connection here,”(Lucia DiGiacomo).

Eric Wegner, general manager of Hot Springs Health & Fitness, said DiGiacomo’s experience will strengthen the club.

“Lucia has worked with pickleball at nearly every level — from recreational play to national tours — and she brings that perspective to Hot Springs Health & Fitness. Upcoming Monster Smash Pickleball Tournament

DiGiacomo’s hiring comes ahead of the Monster Smash Pickleball Tournament, set for Oct. 18-19 at the club’s courts, 281 Lake Hamilton Drive. The event will feature men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles with round robin play leading to single-elimination brackets. Medals will go to the top three finishers in each division.

The tournament will also offer food, drinks, live music, raffles, auctions, and giveaways. Proceeds will support outdoor court upgrades, including a new ice machine and water dispenser. Registration remains open through noon on Oct. 13 on the tournament website.

Growing Pickleball in Hot Springs

With DiGiacomo at the helm, Hot Springs Health & Fitness aims to become a central hub for pickleball in Central Arkansas. Her national experience and local roots are expected to help the club attract players of all ages and skill levels while expanding programs and events in the community.
