Boca Raton Unveils State-of-the-Art Covered Pickleball Courts at Patch Reef Park—Free Play and Grand Opening Event Announced

Patch Reef Park Pickleball Courts Opening: Boca Raton will open 18 covered public pickleball courts at Patch Reef Park next month. The Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. on October 22, with district commissioners and other officials attending. Two courts will be ADA compliant.

Features and Facilities

The new facility includes lighting, a sound system, seating, ceiling fans, water, ice, and parking. Patch Reef’s pickleball professionals will hold a free clinic, and open play will be available for free for the rest of the day after the ceremony. The courts are located at the south end of the park, next to the tennis courts.

With the opening, the Patch Reef Tennis Center will be renamed the Patch Reef Paddle and Racquet Club. Work on the covered courts began more than a year ago. After the opening, construction crews will begin rebuilding existing tennis and pickleball courts, with some courts remaining open during the work.

History and Context

Patch Reef Park opened in 1983, and the tennis center opened in 1987. The park is located on Yamato Road, west of Military Trail. The new covered pickleball courts reflect Boca Raton’s efforts to expand recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
