Sunnyside Park Pickleball Court Project: A new pickleball court will be added to Sunnyside Park in Atlantic, Iowa, with part of the existing basketball court converted for the project. The court is expected to be ready for play by early summer, giving local residents a new space to enjoy one of the fastest-growing sports in the nation.
Community Support for the Project
Kevin Ferguson, Chair of the Atlantic Parks and Recreation Commission, announced the plan during a recent meeting. “Pickleball is one of the most popular and fastest-growing sports in the nation, and this is something a local group has been wanting for a while,” Kevin Ferguson said. He credited Parks and Recreation Coordinator Jeff Christensen and Councilman Mike McDermott for their efforts in making the pickleball court a reality.
