Grand Opening Ceremony
The ceremony will be attended by town staff, elected officials, and members of local pickleball organizations, including Lake Norman Pickleball, which will manage the complex under a new partnership with the town. The event marks the official start of play at the facility.
Lake Norman Pickleball Association Fall Classic
Following the dedication, Lake Norman Pickleball will host its fourth annual Fall Classic tournament. The event features round-robin play with single-elimination medal rounds, guaranteeing participants at least four games. Brackets are set after registration closes, and all events are doubles matches requiring partners. Registration fees include swag, raffle prizes, and the option for a second event at $10. Weather permitting, Women’s Doubles and Men’s Doubles will be played on Saturday, with Mixed Doubles on Sunday. All scores will be reported to DUPR.
Refunds are available before registration closes, minus a $15 administration fee. There is no indoor backup for weather delays, but lighted courts allow evening play if needed. If the event is canceled due to weather, players will still receive their swag bags.
Facility and Funding
Bailey Road Park also features a 12-court tennis complex, officially opening on October 21, 2025. Together, the 12 lighted tennis courts and 10 lighted pickleball courts make Bailey Road Park one of the largest court complexes in the Charlotte area. The town of Cornelius contributed $2.5 million of the $3.4 million construction cost, with the remainder funded by grants, fees, and donations.
