Lacombe Pickleball Free Try-It Night: The Lacombe Pickleball Club is offering a free try-it event for adults on Monday, October 6, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Burman University. Participants only need gym shoes and athletic clothes, as the club will provide all pickleball equipment.
Learn the Basics and Connect with Mentors
RoAnna McLenahan, club board chair, said the event is designed to help new players learn the basics and meet experienced mentors.
“A lot of people are interested, but it’s hard to know what the sport is about. A new player is going to get a lot of support.”(RoAnna McLenahan)
Club Growth and Community Benefits
The Lacombe Pickleball Club has nearly 200 members and offers programs for beginners, youth, and regular play. Plans are in place to expand advanced-level opportunities. McLenahan said the sport provides fitness and agility benefits, but the social connections are what keep her engaged.
“You just meet people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise, and we have a lot of fun,”(RoAnna McLenahan).
The free try-it night aims to introduce more adults to pickleball while strengthening community ties. Successful participation may lead to growth in membership and more programs for players at all levels.
