Pickleball Practice Drill At Rockwood Park From July 30

Pickleball Practice Drill At Rockwood Park: Pickleball 102 is set to enhance players’ skills from July 30 to August 14, 2024, at Rockwood Park. Scheduled every Wednesday from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, this advanced class is designed for those looking to transition from basic knowledge to more competitive play. Participants will focus on refining their techniques and strategies, preparing them for Beginner/Advanced Beginner Leagues and Open Play.

Prerequisites and Structure

This course is not for beginners. Participants must have completed Pickleball Beginner 101 or have played pickleball for at least six consecutive months. Those with significant experience may seek an exemption from the prerequisites by obtaining permission from the instructor before registration.

The class is structured to progressively build skills:

  • The Short Game: The first class will focus on techniques for effective short game play, crucial for maneuvering and control near the net.
  • The Full Court Game: The second session will cover strategies and techniques for playing across the entire court, emphasizing positioning and shot selection.
  • Strategy for Winning Each Point: The final class will delve into strategic elements of the game, teaching players how to maximize their chances of winning each point through tactical play.

What to Bring and Wear

Participants are required to bring their own paddles; however, pickleballs will be supplied by the instructor. Appropriate eye protection is essential—options include regular eyeglasses, sunglasses, or safety glasses. Court shoes suitable for pickleball, such as tennis or volleyball shoes, are recommended to ensure proper traction and support. Additionally, players should apply sunscreen to protect themselves from sun exposure during outdoor play.

Important Notes

This advanced course is designed to build upon existing skills and is not intended for new players. Ensure that you meet the competency requirements before registering to benefit fully from the course. In case of inclement weather, a rain date is scheduled for March 20.

Brian Garbera, an experienced pickleball coach, will lead the sessions. His expertise will guide participants through intensive drills and strategic play, offering valuable insights to elevate their game.

Registration

Registration is open for those who meet the prerequisites. Be sure to check the course description thoroughly and seek instructor approval if needed to confirm eligibility.
