Youth Pickleball Event At Jefferson Parks : Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department is rolling out exciting new programs for youth this summer, featuring a pickleball introduction and an advanced cheerleading camp. These initiatives aim to engage children in physical activities while developing new skills.
Youth Pickleball Program
Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department is introducing its inaugural Youth Pickleball Program for kids in second through sixth grades. This program aims to teach young players the basics of pickleball, including scoring, rules, and court strategies. Scheduled for August 12th, 14th, and 16th, the sessions will run from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Greene County Community Center. The registration fee is $15 for community center members and $20 for non-members. Interested participants must register by August 9th.
Junior High Cheerleading Camp
In addition to pickleball, Jefferson Parks and Rec is offering a Junior High Cheerleading Camp designed for fifth through eighth graders. This advanced camp is a continuation for those who attended the Mini-Cheerleading Camp and will focus on more complex routines, jumps, and stunts. Practices will be held on August 19th and 21st, with a performance scheduled for the home varsity football game on August 30th. Led by Deb Wolterman and the 2024 high school cheerleaders, the camp costs $20 for members and $25 for non-members, with registration closing on August 15th.
