New Pickleball Courts in Carlton Fundraising Goal Set

New Pickleball Courts in Carlton: A community committee is spearheading a project to revitalize the disused tennis courts at South Terrace Elementary School into dedicated pickleball courts. Ed Kavanaugh, a key figure in the initiative, estimates that approximately $50,000 is needed for the renovation. The work will involve removing the old asphalt, laying down a new surface, and applying the final finish.

The revamped courts will feature markings for both tennis and pickleball, akin to the setup at Churchill Elementary in Cloquet. The existing fences are in good condition and will be retained.

Funding and Participation

To fund this project, the committee is actively seeking donations and applying for grants. Community members interested in supporting the cause or learning more are invited to attend the upcoming committee meeting on Thursday, August 8, at 7 p.m. at the Carlton Fire Hall.

Contributions can be made to the City of Carlton, which is handling the financial management of the project. A sign recognizing donors will be installed at the refurbished courts.
