Pickleball Enthusiasts Launch ParkView: Justin Rudolph, Aaron Angst, and Leo DaLynx are avid pickleball players who turned their passion into a practical solution for fellow enthusiasts. They launched ParkView, a website offering live video feeds of local parks to show current weather conditions and court availability, updating every 10 minutes.
“People that get involved with pickleball, pickleball becomes life,” Angst said. The growing popularity of pickleball often leads to crowded courts, and Florida’s unpredictable weather can further complicate play schedules. “We’d come, and then it would start to rain or would be overcrowded,” DaLynx noted.
The trio, who met on a pickleball court last year, created ParkView to address these challenges. “Many of us texted each other, ‘hey, what are the courts like at Crescent? Is it raining at Coquina? Are the courts full?’ So, being able to provide this solution just makes everybody’s life easier,” Angst explained.
Rudolph emphasized the goal of the platform: “The main goal is really just providing insight to our users so they can visualize multiple locations at once and make an educated decision.” Whether users want to play tennis, volleyball, or visit the beach, ParkView helps them optimize their time by checking court availability and weather conditions.
Launched in January, ParkView currently operates about a dozen cameras, primarily in St. Petersburg. These cameras are hosted by businesses and homes with good views of the courts. Rudolph, Angst, and DaLynx are also collaborating with parks and recreation departments to expand camera coverage.
While pickleball remains the focus, ParkView also monitors tennis and volleyball courts, some beaches, and interested private businesses. “We just want to save people time and money because everybody’s busy,” DaLynx said. “There’s a lot of things we need to do, want to do … and just not drive around unnecessarily.”
