8 New Pickleball Courts at Richmond Valley: RollerJam USA Transformed

8 New Pickleball Courts at Richmond Valley: The transformation of the former RollerJam USA rink into Premiere Pickleball marks a new chapter for Richmond Valley. Once home to roller skates and disco lights, the 17,000-square-foot space has been reinvented as a modern pickleball haven. “We put a lot of heart and soul into this because we wanted to create a real club where the Staten Island pickleball community could gather,” said owner Arthur McCarthy. With Staten Islanders previously traveling across the bridge to New Jersey for pickleball, this new facility promises to be a local game-changer.

Modern Design and Top-Notch Facilities

The new venue features eight full-size pickleball courts, including three outdoor and five indoor. Gone are the dark, nightclub-like vibes of the past. The facility now boasts a bright and artsy atmosphere with vibrant blue and gray tones and hand-painted street art. The floors are made of acrylic, and the equipment is all authentic pickleball gear. “It’s bright, it’s artsy,” McCarthy said. “We didn’t want it to look like a gymnasium.”

At the heart of the venue is a pro shop, a dedicated practice court, and two bars—one serving alcohol and the other offering smoothies. These amenities are complemented by spacious areas with high-top tables and chairs, ensuring comfort for all visitors. The entire renovation was completed in just 63 days, showcasing the dedication and speed of the project team.

Family Effort and Community Focus

The renovation was spearheaded by McCarthy’s father, Arthur F. McCarthy, of Mammoth Construction. “We built almost everything in this parking lot – Sonic, Popeye’s, we even built the original RollerJam almost 20 years ago. That’s why it was so important for us to get this right,” noted Arthur F. McCarthy. This family effort underscores the commitment to quality and community integration.

Membership and Booking Details

Premiere Pickleball is now open daily, with courts available for reservation through the Court Reserve app. Indoor courts are priced at $60 per hour, while outdoor courts are $25. Memberships are offered at $199 annually, which includes discounted rates on court time, food, drinks, and pro-shop items.

The facility also plans to host parties, tournaments, and events and aims to become a go-to spot for Football Sundays with a well-equipped sports bar featuring six big-screen TVs. “We’re planning a great menu and can’t wait for guests to see what we have in store,” McCarthy added.
