The proposal, led by The Picklr, outlines the transformation of a vacant Bed, Bath, and Beyond store at 20 West Road into an expansive 30,000-square-foot, membership-only facility boasting 11 courts. Peggy Driscoll, chair of the planning commission, highlighted the club’s upscale features, including professional-grade outdoor surfacing, a well-stocked pro shop, private event spaces, and opportunities for competitive league play.

The project received a conditional use approval recommendation, pending a vote by the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors at an upcoming meeting. Officials anticipate the facility could be operational within 12 weeks following final approval.

This development marks The Picklr’s first venture into Pennsylvania, following its successful establishment of numerous indoor locations nationwide since 2021. The initiative aims to cater to local pickleball enthusiasts while enhancing community engagement through state-of-the-art amenities like locker rooms and showers, promising an elevated playing experience for all members
