Bob Howard Memorial Pickleball Tournament: The second annual Bob Howard Memorial Pickleball Tournament took place on August 5, featuring competitors from the Thingamajig Theatre Company. This event was held in honor of Bob Howard, a revered theater patron who passed away in October 2022, just two weeks after celebrating his 80th birthday. Howard was well-known in the Pagosa Springs community, where he was an avid aviation enthusiast, owning 13 planes and two gliders. He was also an active member of the Gray Wolf Ski Club and the Pagosa Springs Golf Club.

Tournament Format

The tournament featured a two-person mixed doubles pickleball format, with teams formed through a random card draw. The event was organized by Kate Alfred, while actor and director Dennis Elkins served as the scorekeeper. This format ensured a mix of skill levels and provided a fair and engaging competition for all participants.

The winners of this year’s tournament were Nyla Eltahir and Keenan Pasqua. Their victory was celebrated by all attendees, including Carole Howard, who was prominently present at the event, standing second from the right in the group photos.
