Beat the Heat Pickleball Tournament’s Success Shows Growing Appeal

Beat the Heat Pickleball Tournament’s Success: Pickleball, the sport that’s making waves in the recreational world, is gaining traction for its inclusive nature and affordability. Recent reports highlight pickleball’s rapid rise, even surpassing golf as the new go-to sport for corporate enthusiasts. Over the weekend, Rapid City’s own Box Elder Events Center showed this rising trend by hosting the ‘Beat the Heat’ pickleball tournament. This event, part of the center’s summer offerings, reflects pickleball’s increasing footprint in recreational sports.

The Box Elder Events Center: A Hub for Pickleball

The Box Elder Events Center, known for its vibrant community events, is now a staple in the pickleball calendar with its ‘Beat the Heat’ tournament. This annual summer event is complemented by the ‘Pickle Boo’ tournament in the fall, catering to a diverse range of participants. The tournaments are designed to be accessible, featuring men’s, women’s, and mixed divisions, and welcoming players of all ages.

Anticipating Pickleball’s Future

Adam Patton, general manager of The Box Elder Events Center, drew an interesting parallel between pickleball and cornhole.

“It was kind of like cornhole was 10 years ago when you would see cornhole on at 3 a.m. in the morning now you’re seeing pickleball on at even better hours than that. And cornhole is crazy popular now, so I would anticipate pickleball’s growing faster than that.” – (Patton)

This foresight shows the exciting future awaiting pickleball as it continues to capture the imagination of all the players and spectators.
