AHS Pickleball Tournament: A Slam Dunk for Fundraising

AHS Pickleball Tournament: Arlington High School’s basketball programs took an unconventional approach to fundraising with their first annual Pickleball Tournament. Girls’ basketball coach Tashia Wolf acknowledged the unusual pairing of pickleball and basketball.

“There’s really no connecting point. We were just looking for a fun way to make some money, I think. To fundraise for our kids.” – (Tashia Wolf)

The event aimed to raise funds for new shooting machines, which facilitate continuous practice without a rebounder.

AHS Pickleball Tournament Details and Organizers

The tournament attracted 31 doubles teams across three age divisions: youth, high school, and adult. Jake Polk, the boys’ basketball coach, played a key role in the logistical setup.

“Tashia did a lot of organizing of this and I kind of just tried to help the best I can with some logistical stuff, setting up the courts and getting the word out.” – (Polk)

The day was described as shaping up to be enjoyable, especially with the “spectacular” weather.

End-of-Summer Celebration

The tournament provided a festive close to summer sports and school preparations.

“For teachers sometimes, most times, it feels a little bittersweet. But, once you get back in the groove of things and you get the routine going again, it just feels like it’s right.” – (polk)

Despite the unconventional nature of the pickleball-basketball event, the Eagles’ efforts successfully blended fun with fundraising.
