The Picklr Brings Year-Round Play: In a move set to transform the local pickleball landscape, The Picklr is bringing its renowned indoor experience to Williamsburg, Virginia. Slated to open later this year at The Marquis shopping complex, the new pickleball facility will fill the void left by Dick’s Sporting Goods, which closed its doors in late 2021.
A Game-Changer for Year-round Play
The Picklr Williamsburg will be more than just another sports venue. With over a dozen courts, this 45,781-square-foot facility aims to offer a premier experience for both casual and competitive players.

State-of-the-Art Amenities
What sets The Picklr apart is its commitment to quality. Each court will feature pro-quality surfacing within The Picklr’s signature “black box” environment, complete with overhead sound-reduction systems and low-glare lighting. The facility will also include locker rooms, a pro shop, and a private event space, catering to the growing demand for top-tier pickleball venues.
Jeff Anthony, founder of the Pickleburg club, which boasts over 1,300 members, echoed the excitement, stating,
“The local/regional demand for first-class public and private sector venues isn’t slowing down, not by a long shot. And that’s a good thing.”
Looking Ahead: More Pickleball on the Horizon
As the sport continues its meteoric rise, Williamsburg is positioning itself as a key hub for pickleball enthusiasts. Alongside The Picklr, a new indoor sports complex, scheduled to open in 2026, will further expand the region’s offerings with additional pickleball courts. Representatives from both facilities will be available to discuss their plans at a community meeting on August 21 at Revolution Golf and Grille.
