Pickleball Lessons at Southborough: As the fall season approaches, Southborough Rec is gearing up to offer two levels of outdoor Pickleball lessons designed specifically for beginners. Starting the week after next, adults aged 18 and older will have the chance to participate in either the “Beginner 1” or the “Beginner 2” classes. With sessions priced at $90 each, these lessons promise to provide comprehensive training for those new to the sport or those looking to refine their skills.
Beginner 1: A Comprehensive Introduction
The “Beginner 1” class is ideal for those who are just starting out. Participants will learn the fundamental rules, techniques, and strategies of Pickleball. The program begins with the basics and progresses to playing full games against fellow participants. Sessions are available at three different times:
- Tuesdays, September 3rd to October 8th
- 10:00 – 11:30 am
- 5:00 – 6:30 pm
Beginner 2: Sharpening Skills
For those who have completed a “Beginner 1” clinic or have a 2.5 rating with a solid understanding of scoring and court positioning, the “Beginner 2” class offers a deeper dive into the sport. This advanced program aims to boost confidence and enhance overall performance through improved technique and consistency in shots such as dinks, drops, groundstrokes, volleys, and serves. This class is scheduled for:
- Wednesdays, September 4th to October 9th
- 10:30 – 11:30 am

All classes will be conducted at the Tennis Courts at Mooney Field, located on the Finn School campus at 60 Richards Road. Each class is led by Certified Pickleball Instructor Lisa Giusti and is limited to 8 players.
