Pickleball Nights at Seymour YMCA Invites All Ages

Pickleball Nights at Seymour YMCA: The Seymour YMCA, located at 315 East Center Avenue, has officially launched its pickleball program earlier this month, providing a new recreational opportunity for the community. The program, scheduled every Friday night from 6 to 8:20 p.m., invites players of all skill levels to enjoy the sport in a casual, unstructured environment.

A Flexible Pickleball Experience

Colin Piatt, the branch director of the Seymour YMCA, detailed the flexible nature of the program. “There’s not really a league, so it’s not really like, ‘You play this person at this set time.’ I’m going to have three courts open, and people can play and wait their turn to play,” Piatt explained. This setup allows newcomers to practice pickleball without the pressure of official league commitments.

Community and Accessibility

Piatt emphasized the relaxed approach, stating, “It’s going to be relaxed; there’s no commitment for a league. I have equipment for people if they don’t have any, and I’m providing nursery.” The YMCA provides equipment for those who don’t have their own, and nursery services are available for a fee of $2 per child. YMCA members can access the courts for free, while non-members are charged $5.

Other Upcoming YMCA Programs

In addition to pickleball, the Seymour YMCA is preparing for other youth programs. Youth football is set to begin in September, with home games at McGownd Field in Mountain Grove. The Seymour team will compete against teams in Cabool, Houston, Mountain View, Salem, and Willow Springs.

Youth volleyball registration closes on September 17, with the season starting in late September. Games will take place in Cabool, Mountain Grove, and Seymour. The fee is $25 for YMCA members and $45 for non-members.
