Murray Lands 50K Dollar for Pickleball Complex—Thanks to Saputo!

Murray Lands 50K Dollar for Pickleball Complex: The City of Murray and the Murray Pickleball Association (MPA) are thrilled to announce a significant financial contribution from Saputo USA towards the development of the new Murray Pickleball Complex. Located on Field Five in Central Park, this facility will benefit from a generous $50,000 donation made by Saputo, a leading global dairy processor with a substantial presence in Murray.

Saputo, which has operated a manufacturing site in Murray since 2013 and employs around 345 people locally, has committed this substantial donation on behalf of its Murray-based employees. Tim Thurmond, president of the MPA, expressed gratitude for Saputo’s support, stating,

“Our community is fortunate to have such a civic-minded corporation like Saputo. The MPA appreciates our new relationship.”

As part of the donation agreement, Saputo will receive a 10-year “court naming right,” with their logo to be prominently displayed on the windbreakers of one of the courts. This contribution is a vital step towards the construction of the new pickleball facility, though additional funding is still needed to complete the project.

Local corporations are encouraged to contribute for additional naming rights opportunities, while individual donations can be made through the MPA’s website at murraypickleball.org or on GoFundMe.

Josh Vernon of Urban Fabrics is overseeing the planning stages of the construction. A bidding process for general contractors will follow, with the goal of commencing construction in the fall of 2024. This new facility is expected to enhance pickleball opportunities and community engagement in Murray.
