Labor Day Pickleball Tournament Hits Alabama on Aug 31

Labor Day Pickleball Tournament: The 2024 Southern Pickleball Alabama State Championship is set to unfold in Huntsville, Alabama, from August 31 to September 2. Known as “The Rocket City” for its deep ties to U.S. space missions and technological advancements, Huntsville provides a historic yet forward-looking backdrop for this premier pickleball event. The championship will be held at the Alabama Athletic Club, featuring a state-of-the-art indoor facility.

  • Saturday, August 31: Men’s & Women’s Doubles

Matches may start as early as 8:00 AM each day. Detailed start times will be emailed to players approximately one week before the event.

Tournament Format and Brackets

The tournament will use a round-robin format, with medal rounds to follow if the bracket size exceeds three teams. Tournament management may combine brackets if necessary, with awards based on the original division. Skill levels include 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5+, while age groups are 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+, and 70+. Teams must compete at the skill level of the higher-rated player and the age group of the younger player, as of December 31, 2024.
