This represents a fantastic value for players seeking to enhance their skills under the guidance of a top professional.
To reserve a spot for these clinics, interested individuals should contact Nelson Krum at (670) 789-8201 or reach out to any of the federation’s board members. This is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best in the sport.
Daniel Moore: From Tennis to Pickleball Champion
Daniel Moore’s impressive career began after his collegiate tennis experience at Azusa Pacific University. He ventured into pickleball in 2013, inspired by his father’s encouragement, who said, “this is your only chance to become a national champion at something.” Moore co-founded Pickleball Trips, which organizes pickleball excursions to prestigious destinations worldwide. His influence on the sport is global; he introduced pickleball to Japan eight years ago, where the sport now has around 300 players.
Certified by the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association, Moore teaches in countries such as the U.S., Japan, China, Spain, France, and Mexico. He lives in Japan, where he runs Nagano Ventures and serves as a tour leader for Walk Japan. Moore’s enthusiasm for pickleball is matched by his love for snowboarding and hiking in Japan’s mountainous regions.
A Family Affair: The Moores’ Pickleball Legacy
The connection between Daniel and Scott Moore is deeply embedded in pickleball. Their journey together began in 2014, when they defeated the defending national champions at the Tournament of Champions. Despite their success, they decided in 2015 to compete separately to challenge themselves against players of their own age. “He [Scott] will say that I fired him after nationals, but really we mutually agreed that it would be better to play with other people,” Daniel recalls.
This decision led to significant achievements for both. Scott won a trifecta at two major tournaments, capturing titles in Legends doubles, mixed doubles, and singles at the Tournament of Champions and repeating the feat at the USAPA Nationals VII. By the end of the year, he had amassed 20 gold and five silver medals. Daniel also excelled, winning both the 19+ age and open singles divisions at the USAPA Nationals and securing multiple gold medals at the Tournament of Champions.
The Strategic Depth of Pickleball
Both Moores appreciate the sport’s mental and physical demands. “It is a general equalizer. Speed and power is not as big of a factor as most sports,” Scott explains. “It can be physically challenging, but it is also extremely intellectually engaging, as you have to be very patient and calculating, almost like a chess game, to think ahead and set up your points in order to gain the advantage.”
Daniel, reflecting on his transition from tennis to pickleball, emphasizes the strategic nature of the sport: “When you get to the higher levels, it requires so much patience and thinking. You can’t just attack. You have to bide your time, set up the point and pounce when the time is right.”
A Global Impact: The Moores’ Worldwide Influence
The Moores’ influence extends far beyond the court. Scott, a “serial entrepreneur” residing in Colorado Springs, travels extensively, having visited over 60 countries. He is fluent in Japanese and conversant in Spanish. As a sponsored professional for Paddletek paddles and Babolat shoes, and an exclusive master distributor for Paddletek, Scott’s reach is extensive. Daniel, also an international distributor for Paddletek, is ranked as the 11th top doubles player in the world with a Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating higher than 6.6.
Together, they have presented clinics globally, from the U.S. to Spain, Portugal, Japan, and Mexico. “It’s a great sport and you meet people you never would have otherwise,” Daniel says. “It’s a great way to get back into competition without all of the training and intensity that a sport like tennis requires. It’s an easy, fun way to get exercise and meet people.” Their goal is to make pickleball not only the fastest-growing sport in America but also worldwide.
