Pickleball Venue Planned for South Milwaukee Soccer Facility

Pickleball Venue Planned for South Milwaukee: South Milwaukee may soon see a new indoor pickleball facility. The former AMF bowling alley, previously converted into an indoor soccer venue by the owners of South Side Soccer, is now set for transformation into a pickleball club. The building’s 40,000 square-foot space will be reconfigured into 12 pickleball courts, two event rooms, a restaurant, and a small fitness room, according to the concept plan submitted by Guriqbal Singh Sra of Chicago Ave., LLC.

Premier Pickleball Club

Tentatively named the Premier Pickleball Club, the facility aims to offer open play, instruction, clinics, and tournaments through a partnership with the Southwestern Association of Pickleball. Membership options will range from basic to premium, with amenities such as all-day access, discounted court rentals, guest passes, and more. The facility will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and plans include collaborations with local businesses and schools to promote health and wellness.

Past Issues and Future Prospects

The property has faced challenges, including noise complaints, traffic violations, and disorderly conduct incidents, as reported by South Milwaukee Police Lt. Jason Walker. Additionally, the property needs maintenance, with parts of the parking lot in disrepair. Despite these issues, the city and community are supportive of the transition, with a public hearing on the conditional use permit scheduled for August 27.
