Pickleball Expansion in Dallas: Pickleball’s rapid rise as one of America’s fastest-growing sports aligns seamlessly with Dallas’s rising status as a major metropolitan area. Maryland-based Dill Dinkers, which began franchising in 2023, is ready to make a significant impact with its latest venture.
Having successfully launched five locations, Dill Dinkers aims to expand its footprint substantially, targeting between 75 and 100 locations by the end of 2024. This aggressive growth strategy is part of a broader trend in the pickleball industry, where franchises like The Picklr, Ace Pickleball Club, and Pickleball Kingdom are also making strides.
Dallas Expansion: The Deal
In a strategic move, Dill Dinkers has inked a 50-unit deal for the Dallas market with Texas entrepreneurs Justin Goehring and Brock Oldenkamp. Goehring, who has a diverse business background, began his career with Verizon before expanding into various ventures, including a barbershop franchise and a FedEx operation.
His transition into pickleball came after recognizing the sport’s growing community and potential.
“During that time, I started falling in love with pickleball. When I saw the community come together that I was playing with and having fun, I knew there was a business model there.” – (Goehring)
Strategic Fit and Future Plans
Goehring met Dill Dinkers’ leadership at a franchise show in Dallas and was drawn to the regional development opportunity.
“What they had was a good fit. An opportunity like this allows me to build them, and then turn them over to other franchisees in the market. That’s the model I want to do to meet my development schedule and allow for growth.” – (Goehring)
William Richards, the founder and CEO of Dill Dinkers, expressed confidence in the deal, emphasizing the scarcity of pickleball facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
“There are places where pickleball courts are overwhelmed. We’re confident they’re going to be developed well in the market.” – (Richards)
The Deal’s Significance
Dill Dinkers clubs typically span 15,000 to 40,000 square feet and feature six or more pickleball courts. Richards highlighted the importance of selecting franchisees with strong financial backgrounds and relevant business experience. The cost to open a Dill Dinkers franchise ranges from $408,531 to $790,021.
“Justin already has franchising experience and Brock is a general contractor. They have a great business acumen, so we’re excited to partner with them.” – (Richards)
Goehring reciprocated the sentiment, praising the Dill Dinkers team.
“It’s surrounded by good-quality people and they have their eye on how to refine the brand.” – (Goehring)
