Situated between Hinkle and Deegan Lakes, these courts are designed to accommodate 32 players simultaneously. The decision to build additional courts comes as the pickleball community in Harrison County continues to expand.
Local Initiative and Design
The initiative reflects the city’s commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities for its residents. “I think we just strive to provide excellent activities and opportunities for our residents and so we’ve worked with some local engineers to design it and lay it out and we hope, you know, that the public enjoys it,” said Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Director Joe Shuttleworth. The facility will include LED lighting, a picnic shelter, and a restroom accessible for trail users.
Facility Upgrades
In addition to the new courts, the existing parking lot will be restriped to better serve visitors. The Parks and Recreation department aims to complete the facility by mid-October, ensuring it meets the community’s growing needs for pickleball.
