“Pickle for Patriots” Westfield Pickleball Event to Support Military Care Bags Drive

Westfield Pickleball Event: Westfield High School senior Jillian Battles is set to kick off her latest “Bags for Bravery” campaign with a pickleball tournament, dubbed “Pickle for Patriots.” Scheduled for September 7 at the Municipal Playground, this event marks the beginning of her 2024 collection drive. This year’s effort builds on a successful 2023, during which Battles and her team assembled 800 care bags for active troops and veterans.

A Tradition of Service and Support

For the past four years, Jillian Battles, with the support of her mother Jen Battles, and a network of friends and community members, has spearheaded this impactful initiative. The care bags, meticulously packed, include a variety of items such as personal care products, throw blankets, notebooks, pens, pencils, playing cards, and an assortment of snacks. Each bag is a testament to the commitment and gratitude the Westfield community holds for its service members.

A Community Effort

The “Pickle for Patriots” tournament is not only a fundraiser but also a way to engage the community in the Battles’ mission. The event will feature local pickleball enthusiasts coming together for a cause, showing the collective effort that fuels this annual drive.

Looking Ahead

As Battles prepare for this year’s campaign, the goal remains the same: to provide comfort and support to those who serve. The pickleball tournament represents the start of a new chapter in her ongoing commitment to aiding troops and veterans.
