Fretz Pickleball Tournament: The Fretz Tennis Center is gearing up to host the September 2024 DUPR Rating Tournament on September 7, 2024, at 6998 Belt Line Rd, Dallas, TX 75254, USA. This outdoor pickleball event will follow a Set Partner Pool Play format, culminating in a Single Elimination Bracket, offering competitive play for all participants.
Registration and Fees
Participants must register as teams, with a fee of $27.00 per player. Registration is open until September 3, 2024. It’s important for players to carefully enter their DUPR IDs during registration, ensuring they correctly identify zeros versus the capital letter “O.”
Tournament Structure
Each team will play two pool play games, with each match consisting of one game to 15 points. Following pool play, teams will advance to bracket play, where matches will be best two out of three games to 11, requiring a win by 2 points. The tournament guarantees each team at least two bracket matches, with a maximum of three, depending on the draw size.
CORE outdoor pickleballs will be used, and all match scores will be uploaded to DUPR. The tournament schedule begins with Women’s Doubles at 8:30 AM, followed by Men’s Doubles at 11:30 AM, and Mixed Doubles at 2:30 PM. Medals will be awarded to the winners and runners-up in each division.
Hydration and Preparation
Players are encouraged to bring water jugs filled with ice water and to begin hydrating the day before the tournament. The facility will provide ice and water stations inside the building for refills between or during matches.
Rules and Recommendations
Players are advised to register based on their DUPR rating at the time of registration. New DUPR users do not need a rating but must have a DUPR account. For teams with a combined DUPR rating precision below 70%, a margin of error of +0.20 will be allowed.
It is strongly recommended that participants download the Swish mobile app and link their DUPR ID before the tournament. This will facilitate viewing matches, court assignments, and entering scores. Players should not press “Leave Tournament” at the end but should simply verify their scores and close the app.
Cancellation and Refunds
The $5 Swish software fee is non-refundable, as it is a charge imposed by Swish. In the event of a complete rain-out, a full refund of the tournament fee will be issued. Refunds for withdrawals will only be granted if a waitlisted team fills the spot. No refunds will be issued for day-of-tournament no-shows or late arrivals, which will also be treated as no-shows.
