Pickleball Palooza Hits Tennessee Soybean Festival on a High Note

Pickleball Palooza Hits Tennessee: The Tennessee Soybean Festival’s much-anticipated Pickleball Palooza unfolded on Monday at the Skyhawk tennis courts in Martin. This doubles-only pickleball tournament catered to players of all skill levels and ages, reflecting the growing popularity of the sport. The event featured a competitive money division, with cash prizes for the top three teams in both the men’s and women’s brackets, culminating in a $250 first-place award.

Turnout and Atmosphere

Under perfect weather conditions, the tournament attracted a remarkable turnout. Over 50 teams participated, with players traveling from nearby areas and even Kentucky to join in the action. The vibrant atmosphere underscored the event’s success, as fans and players alike enjoyed a day of spirited competition.

Organizer’s Perspective

Barrett Belote, UTM campus recreation fitness and facility coordinator, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s success. “Very, very happy with the turnout for this tournament,” Belote noted. “This is something that we’ve been looking forward to all summer, and we had a lot of last minute sign ups a few days before the last registration day, where we had about twenty or so that really expanded the tournament to what it is right now.

Future Plans

Looking ahead, organizers are optimistic about the future of the Pickleball Palooza. They hope to establish the event as a permanent fixture of the Tennessee Soybean Festival, cementing its place in the annual calendar and continuing to draw pickleball enthusiasts from across the region.
