Carter Blatt’s Pickleball Fundraiser Aims to Transform Mental Health

Carter Blatt’s Pickleball Fundraiser Aims: Carter Blatt, an incoming junior at Council Rock High School North, is spearheading a unique community initiative aimed at promoting wellness and inspiring change. On Sunday, September 8, from 3 to 6 p.m., Blatt will host “Pickleball With A Purpose” at the Northampton Tennis and Fitness Center. This event aims to raise funds for the Child Mind Institute, which is dedicated to advancing adolescent mental health, brain development, and learning disabilities.

Event Details

The three-hour fundraiser will feature engaging pickleball match play, expert guidance from certified instructors, and a variety of food and drink options. Additionally, there will be raffle baskets and gifts generously donated by local businesses. Admission to the event is set at $25.

Blatt emphasizes that attendees do not need to play pickleball to participate. “You can still come to the event to watch the games, eat food, and participate in the raffle baskets and fundraising,” he said.

Personal Connection

Blatt’s commitment to this cause is deeply personal. At 13, he suffered a severe concussion while playing soccer, an experience that significantly impacted his life. “This pivotal moment not only changed my perspective on life but also knocked me down into a world of uncertainty and challenges,” Blatt shared. Despite previous concussions, this incident created substantial barriers that seemed insurmountable.

Throughout his recovery, Blatt faced significant mental health struggles, including social isolation and a loss of confidence in the classroom. “My journey to recovery included mental health struggles from feeling socially isolated from my peers, and it eroded my confidence in the classroom,” he explained. “If it were not for the care I was provided, I could not have overcome the challenges I faced.

Turning Pain into Purpose

Determined to make a difference, Blatt founded the Serve Wellness Foundation and began partnering with the Child Mind Institute. CMI’s mission encompasses Care, Education, and Science, aiming to transform the lives of children and families facing mental health and learning challenges. “Help me on my mission to create a community of acceptance and development,” Blatt urged the community.

Having switched from soccer to tennis after his second concussion, Blatt discovered a new passion for the sport. Now in his second year as captain of the tennis team, he also teaches tennis at the Northampton Tennis and Fitness Center.
