Free Pickleball Clinics in Petersburg Launching This Saturday

Free Pickleball Clinics in Petersburg: Petersburg’s Office of Recreation, Special Events, and Volunteerism is set to offer a series of free pickleball clinics starting this Saturday, September 7. The initiative aims to introduce the sport to new players and is a direct result of recent upgrades to the city’s recreational facilities.

Pickleball Clinic Schedule and Details

The clinics will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on the newly renovated pickleball courts at Farmer Street Park (1200 Farmer St) on the following dates: September 7, 14, 21, 28, and October 5. Interested participants are encouraged to register by emailing recreation@petersburg-va.org or visiting the office in person. Participants must be at least 12 years old and are advised to bring a pickleball paddle, sneakers, and a water bottle.

Recent Renovations Enhance Facilities

This series of clinics comes on the heels of extensive renovations at Farmer Street Park, completed in June. The improvements included the reconstruction of basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts, alongside new fencing, poles, basketball goals, and freshly painted court lines.

“Our mission is to improve the quality of life of our seniors, adults, and youth population by providing effective, efficient programs and services, including parks,” stated Marquis Allen, Director of Recreation, Special Events & Volunteerism, during an April city council meeting. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to uplift all parks and playgrounds to ensure a safe play environment for the community.
