John Gullo’s Pickleball Legacy: John Gullo, known as “The Father of Professional Pickleball,” is set to receive a prestigious honor this fall. The Ogden resident’s pivotal role in popularizing pickleball in Northern Utah has earned him a place in the National Pickleball Hall of Fame. Gullo’s dedication to the sport began with personal investment in the first eight pickleball courts in Ogden, Utah, and has since expanded to over 360 courts in Northern Utah.

Building the Sport

Gullo’s contributions extend beyond local courts. He played a key role in establishing pickleball in more than 10 cities across the Beehive State.

His influence also reached the industry level with the financing of Pickleball Now, a paddle manufacturer that later evolved into the Onix Brand after being acquired by Escalade Sports.

A Mantra of Service

Gullo’s approach to life and sport is encapsulated in his personal mantra: “Play hard, work hard, and do something for your community.” This ethos has guided his contributions to pickleball and community development.

Upcoming Ceremony

The formal induction ceremony will take place in Mesa, Arizona, on November 14th. Gullo’s recognition reflects his profound impact on the sport and his enduring legacy within the pickleball community.
