Canceled Activities
In a statement released Friday, the city confirmed that the Saturday Morning Market, pickleball events, and all recreational field permits will be canceled through the weekend. The move is part of a broader precautionary measure to mitigate health risks associated with excessive heat.
Cooling Centers
To provide relief from the sweltering temperatures, several cooling centers will be available to the public. The city has designated the following locations as cooling centers, with their respective operating hours.
- Joslyn Senior Center, 21 Grant St., Open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
- Eddie and Gloria Flores Senior Center, 111 W. Lugonia Ave., Open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Joe R. Gonzalez Community Center, 111 W. Lugonia Ave., Open from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday; 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
